Cultivating A Culture Of Honor

15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in
trouble.
I will rescue them and honor them. Psalms 91:15 (NLT)

26 All those who want to be my disciples must come and
follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And if
they follow me, the Father will honor them. John 12:26 (NLT)

Jesus modeled for us how to live by honoring the Father. This
honor becomes contagious because the Father also honored
the Son and in turn promises to honor us when we call on him
and follow him.

A culture of honoring God and honoring one another doesn’t
happen by accident. It is intentional. We seek opportunities to
honor people.

Jesus put this into practice while he was on the earth. He had
the amazing ability to be full of both grace and truth. He never
compromised the truth but grace flowed from every part of his
life.

You see this in his encounters with what many in the religious
community would have called the worst sinners. It wasn’t the
“sinners” that Jesus had a problem with. In fact, he even
promised that tax collectors and prostitutes would enter the
kingdom before many of the religious leaders.

Why? I believe that a lot of it boiled down to the lack of honor
that the religious leaders showed for God’s most precious
possession—people. And, most importantly, their lack of
honor for the son, Jesus Christ.

This whole month we are going to be talking about how to
cultivate this culture of honor, and the amazing fruit that
comes from it. Join us for the journey!
