Entering God’s Place Of Rest For the word (Gr. Logos same as John 1:1) of God is living and effective and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as to divide soul, spirit, joints, and marrow; it is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart. 13 No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account. 14 Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to the confession (Gr. homologia). Hebrews 4:12-14 (HCSB) An incredible promise is ours...to enter the same seventh day rest that God had after creation (Hebrews 4). This is possible because of what Jesus did for us in the finished work of the cross and his resurrection. This happens through believing (our confession—Gr. Homologia) - saying the same thing as Jesus, the living word (Gr. Logos) Jesus modeled this for us when he slept during the storm (in the Father’s place of rest). When the disciples woke him up and stood up and spoke, “Peace, be still.” He was releasing the peace of God in him to the storm around him. This is more important now than ever. As the world and all it values passes away, we are going to need to be a people that operate from God’s place of rest, possessing a peace that the world does not have or give.
