| Salt & Light! 13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 You are the light of the world—like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. 15 Don't hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matt 5:13-16 (NLT) When I was growing up, a common stream of thought regarding Christians in politics was for Christians to stay out of politics. We, of course paid a price for that way of thinking. Should Christians have a political spirit? Of course not, but we are now at a point where the barbarians are at the door! Marriage is under assault. Life is under assault. Jesus made it clear. We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. If we don’t exert influence on the world, we are not fulfilling Jesus’ command to us. We are called to vote our values and to pay attention to where our candidates stand. The most alarming part about the stark choices that exist in this election is how he will affect our judicial system. It is very likely that our next president will appoint several supreme court justices, not to mention the hundreds that will be appointed in the lower courts. Think of this stark reality. Five justices made the choice over a generation ago that has resulted in the death of 50 million babies! One candidate has made a choice to honor a culture of life, the other, even though he doesn’t want to admit it, has made it clear that he will appoint justices who will protect abortion – the murder of our children. This election will affect the next generation. We have done our best to supply voters guides regarding where both local and national candidates stand. If you need more info., don’t hesitate to call.
